DJ Operon has been a pillar of the drum'n'bass community in Brisbane for the last six years. Alongside partner in crime DJ Erther, Operon is responsible for reviving a dead scene for this UK breakbeat sound in his home town. Lack of exposure to the genre and a poor selection of events compelled him to start his own parties which has led on to the highly successful 'Rude Bwoyz Monthly' events, which have now been running each and every month for almost five years. Drum'n'bass in Brisbane is now the strongest its ever been, with scores of talented young djs coming through the ranks and lots of exposure to the sound at many diverse dance events and clubs. His efforts have culminated with top support slots for renowned djs such as LTJ Bukem, Teebee, Aphrodite, Dom & Roland, and Pendulum to name a few.
A keen producer, Operon's name was pushed farther a field of Brisbane when one of his productions 'Regolith' was picked as one of 9 finalists for the 2004 'Connecting Beats' competition run by Nokia. The track featured on a CD alongside artists such as Motive (dsci4) and received Australia wide distribution. More recently, Operon in collaboration with top Brisbane vocalist 'Manta Ray' (My Ninja Lover) has had his production 'Airports' signed with UK label 'Phuzion Records' and is set for release in late October. The label is owned and managed by the legendary DJ Nookie, famed for his seminal releases on LTJ Bukem's Good Looking imprint. Nookie has been pushing the tune on his MOS radio show and at many European dnb events to fantastic response! Operon's latest development is the completion of his live project: 100% original material reworked and mixed live! Check DJ Operon at regular Brisbane events and radio shows and see what the spectrum of drum'n'bass has to offer.
