Hey dudes
I'm Jordan (aka Zeppelin) and I'm from a smallish city on the south coast of England called Portsmouth. I've been into an underground lifestyle of heavy music and excessive living since I left a military school @ 16 (I guess it would turn most people that way lol). At college I was introduced to 80s thrash metal, and it wasn't long before I started learning guitar, playing to bands like Metallica, Anthrax, Annihilator and other bands from that period. I was in a band up to when I was 21 playing that kind of music. From that time onwards my taste progressed to the darker, more intense sound of Norweigan black metal. In terms of older music my tastes went further back to the more rockin' sound of 70s bluesy rock bands like Led Zeppelin and ACDC.
In June 2006 I went to my first free party, and it was a massively life changing experience. It was always the euphoric element of hard trance that attracted me to the music, combined with the wonderful sense of freedom which came from the free parties.
When the summer ended I heard one of the Bonkers CDs, and I was instantly drawn to the energy of the music, having been into fast music for several years. With a bank loan I bought my first set of decks, and I started learning to mix with hardcore records, along with a few psytrance albums I had managed to get a hold of. I discovered freeform at the start of 2007, and I switched styles from happy hardcore to the more euphoric side of hardcore.
When I heard the freeform coming from Finland I felt that I had finally found the dance counterpart to the metal I had listened to for years, coincidentally coming from the same part of the world, a country where in winter the sun doesn't shine in some places for about two months!
So far I've only played at various free parties on the south coast, but I have 3 current club bookings where I plan to spread the sound of Finnnish Freeform. I've also started to produce my own dark freeform now, influenced by the Scandinavian sounds of metal and freeform along with UK producers like Lab4 and Lost Soul, and I hope to create my own unique sound taking other genres such as psytrance, NRG and techno into consideration.
