His name is Matty StyLes. This dj was born in Sydney, and then moved to Brisbane @ the age of 5. Only getting on the decks at a later age he excelled in what he hadn't already achieved. This is no everyday disc jockey, vinyl pusher. This is where Brisbane's dance scene is reborn and revived by the sweet but dirty, hard but rhythmical, punchy bass lines, emotionally grabbing tunes catering for all occasions, stepping up for every event and not disappointing in any way shape or form.
This 27 yr old has only had his decks since 2007, but has been in the scene for quite some time, until he realized it was time to stamp his mark on the Brisbane dj/dance/music circuit. His love for music and dedication to trying to improve with every mix and set played, he strives for a residency even a possible euro trip to try his luck. Played at some parties and some night clubs with the likes of Babygee, Matrix, Angus Gibbins, Tranceducer, Habitual_Pl, Hektic, Wovn, Dj Hazard, Mutley, F&E, Jigzee, Little 1, Jody 6, Triple Zero, Keni, Akajic, Breadmaker, Grymm, D-Train, Demize, Analog, Miss Tracey, Rushnosh and S3rl just to name a few, and numerous Electro, House, Trance, Hard Trance, Hardstyle, UK Hard Dance, and Hardcore & Freeform Djs around Brisbane, he has taken in any useful info to further his career and djing techniques.
With a keen ear for the music scene for quite some time, listening to mostly punk bands, heavy metal bands and hard rock, there is no wonder the natural progression was to try the same in the dance scene. (Fav bands consisting of Karnivool, Cog, Fear Factory, SuperHeist, System of a Down, TooL, A.P.C., Atreyu, Slipnot, Korn, A.F.I., Strung Out, Ataris, Three Days Grace, H.I.M. and Iron Maiden. etc, etc.)
Inspiration comes from such artists such as: Yoji, Armin, Tiesto, Martin Roth, Ralph Novell, Bas & Ram, Steve Hill, Remo-Con, John O'Callaghan, Babygee, Archie, Amber Savage, Nikfish, Scot Alert, Scot Project, Gareth Emery, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Mike Koglin, Mike Foyle, Claudia Cazacu, Joop, Technikal, Carl Nicholson, Nic Changall, Nick Sentience, Fred Baker, Vinylgroover aka Scott Attrill, Leon Boiler, Talla 2xlc, Andy Moor, Wippenberg, Sied van Riel, Markus Shulz, Ferry Corsten, Marcel Woods, Above and Beyond A.M.S., Kevin Energy, SR3L, Ephexis and Seventy-7 and K Complex and so forth. (The list could keep going)
He is aiming for a solid career in djing and producing and thanks any support and friends and family that have helped him so far and would like any support at any gigs. Hopefully in the next 2 years he will be over in Europe rubbing shoulders with the best of them getting anything like tips and hints on mixing styles and trying to better his skills behind the wheels.
Previous gigs include: Casino 2007-2008, Bedroom Bangers 2008, Club 21 2008, Rocker Fellas 2008, Griffith Uni Nathan Campus 2009, Boiler Room Dj Battle and residency. Excelling in the party scene as well.
2009 sees a new year and new prospects for this humble dj. Already releasing new mixes this year and getting some awesome feed back from all fans and loyal followers. 2009 also sees new horizons for styles as well. Trying new music styles and new mixing techniques as well in the different genres. Exciting times ahead.
2010 is more so an experimental year with approaching on new times in the music industry. He is goin to commence his producing side of things later on in the year. Be sure to keep up to date with everything in that side of things as well. Playing at HDB and Alarm and more clubs to come.
2011 sees Mr. StyLes break into more high nrg music, including FiNRG, DnB, Hardcore. Introducing himself to the people at the beat he was given the chance to play a set on sat nights @ the wrecker room playing his beloved Hard Trance to UK Hard Dance. Also on the horizon playing down the coast a bit more with coastcore and up north on a joint venture with dj mates to get things started on the north coast. All this so far and the year is still fresh.
