Growing up in the 80’s with three sisters and a mad Neil Diamond fan as a mother, it was hard for Matt to find himself listening to any really decent music as a child. This unfortunate situation continued into the 90’s, surrounded by but never quite comfortable with rock, Matt was at a loss.
The late 90’s saw the triumphant rise of uplifting pounding Trance and with it Matt’s life changing discovery. He was in Love.
And the name of that love was dance music. The euphoric sounds of people like Sash, Energy 52, Faithless and ATB that characterised the scene of the late 90’s were to become the young man’s first great passion.
2000 saw Matt mixing on his first cd decks, then Technics 1210’s and the remainder of the year was lost to honing a hobby into a profession. By 2002 Matt was resident at Park Lane amongst playing other high profile venues throughout Devon. In 2003 he took to the north, purchasing a mobile disco rig en route.
5 years of working the mobile disco circuit in the cold North came to an end in 2008 when he returned to immediately land residencies with two Llyod’s no1 bars in Somerset. Since then Matt has thoroughly established himself not just as an experienced professional DJ but also founder of Klimakz FM and the professional DJ/promotion group Klimakz.
Matt has held the residency at the Green Ginger in Torquay since 2009 and regulars there will know that his deep and immovable love for trance is now coupled with an almost as sincere adoration for house an Electro.
2010 was the year Matt decided to quit the rat race and finalise his move into the professional DJ and radio world. He has worked with Hospital radio Exeter, Riviera Fm and of course his own internet baby Klimakz FM http://www.klimakz.fm/
As a professional DJ he has worked freelance and Resident across the county including: Audio nightclub, Paignton; Butlers, Exeter; Club Rococo, Exeter (Assistant DJ); Crazy Horse, Paignton & Torquay; Fusion, Kingsbridge; Kools Nightclub, Teignmouth; Mambo, Torquay; Moloko, Exeter; Park Lane (resident), Torquay; Perkin Warbeck (resident), Taunton; The Weary Traveller, Cullompton; The Green Ginger, Torquay; The William Dampier (resident), Yeovil; Turks Head, Exeter; Yates, Torquay.
Through Klimakz, Matt organises events across the South West, working with the some of very best DJ’s this end of the country has to offer.
And no, he won’t play Neil Diamond for you.
