How Did You Find Yourself ending up in The Valley’s Hard Dance DJ Scene?
Well I’ve Been a Proud Raver for nearly10 years now, and it did just seem like a natural progression with love of the Harder styles of music … it all started with the Hard Beats of System 6, Thrillseeker & and other mind blowing Hard music Rave Parties and Stomping to Hard beats at the Beat Mega club & Rockafella’s over the years…. Then I finally got up the courage to enter the Beat DJ comp and was absolutely hooked on playing Hard Music for my fellow Ravers!
What type of Music Do you Play?
Well it has to be hard… No exceptions, it can still be beautiful music even when it’s Hard, so my Fav’s to play are Dirty Hard Trance, Hardstyle & Hardcore
What’s your favourite Genre?
Awe, such a hard decision! Ew, Er, Um… Ask Me that one Again later! Haha.. No seriously,
I Love all the genre’s I play as passionately as the next.. I have my own sound that I believe carries through to all the sets that I play… from Hard Trance To Hardcore Gabber….my sound - Beautiful/Nasty
What do you prefer Vinyl or CD‘s?
Well I’m a Vinyl lover from way back! .. Always have been… Always will….You can’t go past a good Record! The sound of their warmth sets them apart for me (especially in the Harderstyles), I am learning To Play Cd Jays now because technology has moved forward & opened up more options.. And I believe Playing both will be Handy for future gigs.. And open up the option of having those hot tracks that are available on Digital only… But All in All… As Long as they keep pressing vinyl I will continue to buy & play them!!!
Does your Music reflect your personality?
“ I’m really a nice girl!” (Laughs) I really find Playing Hard Beats & stomping is an outlet for life’s little frustrations and getting my Anger out… without Hard music I am a Moody Girl indeed!! (Giggles)
How Long Have You Been Mixing For?
Nearly two years now… I started out at The beat DJ Competition.. And stayed a bedroom DJ for nearly a year after that until I finally had the courage to get out there and Play some Hardstyle for my Peers…
What do you think is the key to a good DJ Set?
For me it’s Progression…. I like to start out hard and finish harder! I love big build ups and break downs, Melodic & beautiful Hard driving Bass lines, Vocals and lyrics are also very important to me.… You can still take people on a journey with Dark, Evil Tunes!
How did you Your DJ Career Start out?
Well after a staying back in the bedroom mixing and learning more about my Passion, I was offered my very first gig as a hardstyle DJ at “Industrious” (Laughing Moon in conjuntion with X-sistence productions) @ Hotel La in October 2009, Playing back to back with The beautiful DJ Akajic…. So by then all I wanted to do is Play my music & I was an absolute Hardcore vinyl addict, so I decided to try my hand at the hotel LA DJ comp a couple of months later and got through to the finals as their “wildcard”… some would say I didn’t win; (technically I didn‘t)… but I beg to Differ…. Watching me closely and intently was a Hardstyle Legend in his own right and long time friend of the mine from The Valley…D-Train and Speedcore/Terrorcore DJ/Producer SiLo, who Offered me a prime position spot In Their Crew “Weapons of Mass Distortion”! Since then I Have Played Many Gig’s With my Boys Including For Hard Dance Brisbane, Jenocide Productions & Have now become “Asylum Entertainment” Residents.
Who is your main Musical Inspiration?
It all started with my Love affair of Hardcore Scott brown mixes & His own tracks… The way he progressed from beautiful to Nasty… I thought “This DJ Get’s me!” How I feel emotionally as well as musically, He nailed Hardcore for me and inspired me a lot in this genre… I also Love Dougal & Gammer, DJ Sy, DJ Unknown, Brisk & Ham Hixxy, DJ Kurt, Joey Riot + on the Dark side of Hardcore I love Neophtye, Tommyknocker, Endymion, Furyian, Amnesys, Hellraiser, DJ Decipher, The Player…etc… damn it, I could go on for a while… but you get my drift!
As For Hardstyle I love the local DJ’s in The valley around me… As for Producers in Hardstyle Zany, Pavo, The Pitcher, Thilo & Evanti, The Prophet, Showtek, Abyss & Judge, Headhunters, DJ Stephanie + heaps more!
For My Dirty dirty Hard Trance… I Have Been Inspired and Loved And still my favourite Hellraiser, Kutski, Alex Kidd, Jason Midro, Jewelz, Kidd kaos, Lisa Lashes, Uberdruck, Organ Doners, A.S.Y.S, Tommy Pulse, Bexta, Nik Fish, Amber Savage and so on….
Which DJ’s Have You been influenced by?
Hanging out at my fav Club’s I fell in love with Hardstyle music played by local DJ’s Such as DJ’s Edwin, Rudemood, D-Train & Evilzon…. I loved how Hard & Dark it was.. So the research began on my own sound… Since then my Musical Inspiration comes from local DJ’s mainly…My Brissy Hardcore Inspiration was definitely Breadmaker! Brisbane has so much to offer and Good Talent making it Big… how can you not be inpired by successful DJ’s & producers such as TyDi, Akajic, Hektik, Hazzard, Kazuki, S3RL, Spinecode, Breadmaker, Rushnosh, Decipher and so many more.
Do you have any interest in Music Production?
Absolutely! I can’t wait to start getting my own Tracks out there… I have been working on a Dirty Hard Trance/Hardstyle Track of my own now for a while… I’m still learning production however… so it wont be out for a little while yet!
What do we Have to look forward From DJ froggystyle in the Future?
Definitely more Sets With My Boys From “WMD” + Look out for a DJ named “Ms. Devastated” in the Near future & some Solo Froggy Sets of my own so people really Get to go on that journey of Hard to Beautiful to Nasty that can only leave them saying…”How the F*#k Did She Do That!?”
